Stanwood, WA, March 25, 2024 – Tessa Steiner and Sela Kramer, talented dancers at The Dance Project NW and seniors at Stanwood High School, have clinched the prestigious Top Scoring Elite Dance Performance award at the Platinum Dance Competition. This remarkable achievement underscores their dedication, skill, and artistry in the world of dance.
Outshining over 400 entries, Tessa and Sela's mesmerizing duet captivated judges and audience alike, earning them the highest score of the entire competition. Their performance, a testament to their unwavering commitment and synchronized talent, stood out amidst fierce competition.
Both exemplary students with outstanding academic records, Tessa and Sela are not only leaders in the studio but also active participants in their school community. Their passion for dance is matched only by their dedication to their studies and extracurricular activities.
The duo's award-winning routine was expertly choreographed by Amber Welte, the studio owner of The Dance Project NW. Reflecting on Tessa and Sela's achievement, Amber Welte expressed immense pride, stating, "It has been an honor to witness Tessa and Sela's journey in dance. Their unwavering commitment and exceptional talent have truly set them apart. Winning the Top Scoring Elite Dance Performance award is a testament to their hard work and dedication."
In addition to Tessa and Sela's outstanding performance, The Dance Project NW also saw other remarkable successes at the Platinum National Dance Competition. Several dancers and teams received the top adjudication, earning the prestigious Platinum Plus designation. Among them were:
"Dream", an Intermediate Junior Lyrical Duet, which also placed 2nd overall of Intermediate Junior Duos & Trios. The dancers of “Dream” are McKinley Tedrow and Leonora Bruce;
"Oceans", an Elite Senior Small Group, which also placed 5th overall of Elite Senior Small Groups. The dancers of “Oceans” are Addy Woodworth, Samantha Spahr, Tessa Steiner, and Sela Kramer;
"Self Love", an Elite Junior Open Solo, which also placed 4th overall of Elite Junior Soloists. The soloist for “Self Love” is Leielle Mae Miller;
"A Moment Of Silence" an Elite Pre-Pro Open Solo, which also placed 4th of Elite Pre-Pro Soloists. The soloist for “A Moment Of Silence” is Tessa Steiner;
"Carry Out" an Intermediate Junior Hip-Hop Small Group, which also placed 2nd overall of Intermediate Junior Small Groups. The dancers of “Carry Out” are Alice Joseph, Christiana Carlson, Emma Cameron, Ethan Welte, Jaymeson Bruce, Leonora Bruce, McKinley Tedrow, Tanna Koster;
"Sad Pony" an Elite Pre-Pro Hip-Hop Trio. The dancers of “Sad Pony” are Aurora Fleck, Tessa Steiner, and Sela Kramer;
and "Jordan Belfort" an Elite Teen Hip-Hop Small Group, which also placed 1st overall of Elite Teen Small Groups. The dancers of “Jordan Belfort” are Aurora Fleck, Leielle Mae Miller, Makenna Pike, Merit Knowlton, Rachel Long, Samantha Spahr, Sela Kramer, Tessa Steiner, and Zivia Dietz.
Furthermore, The Dance Project NW celebrated several soloists and routines earning nominations to the Championship Competition, an invitational-only event. Dancers and routines earning this prestigious recognition must be invited or have earned a Platinum Plus adjudication. In addition to the Platinum Plus routines, the following soloists were invited:
“Catharsis" an Elite Teen Solo performed by Zivia Dietz, and "What Was I Made For" an Elite Teen Solo performed by Rachel Long.
As they continue to shine on stage and inspire others with their artistry, Tessa and Sela look forward to representing The Dance Project NW with the rest of their teammates at the upcoming Starpower competition in Burien, WA later this April.
